Senior Moment (Mine, That Is . . .)
September 28, 2011

It's completely inconceivable that this young woman is a SENIOR . . . I remember the day she was born! Boy, does this make me feel so OLD! I watched lovely "L" grow up and was so impressed by what a poised, smart, and kind woman she's become. For the first time, perhaps, I saw her in this light (until now, she's always been "little L" to me). It was a privilege and a pleasure working with her and I'm thrilled by how gorgeous she looks! Thanks, "S" family :)

If there ever was a set of sibs who got along better (or at least who APPEARED to get along as well) it was these two. I sort of thought I heard R.E.M. lingering in the background during the whole shoot. I assure you the shot of the two below with tongues out had to be coaxed. The "H" family was a whole lot of fun to work with. A super cute family with a sense of style and design to boot! Hoping they come back some day and send 100 more like them in the meantime. Thanks, "H" family :)

Splish Splash . . . Check Out the New Bath
September 20, 2011

What began in July as a simple one-room renovation (my master bath) has not only extended throughout the house (we just ordered completely new flooring for every square foot of this place) but frankly, has become an obsession for all things remodeled and renewed. I kid you not that I literally lay in bed and contemplate miter cuts and mounting brackets . . . scary but true. I think part of it is having a NEW creative outlet and getting to some long overdue revival of my personal space.
Here are some updated photos of the first bath in its completed state (check out the "before" pics on the July blog). I wanted to create a space that was clean, cool, relaxing, and "buttoned up." I felt inspired by our favorite resort where we visit and sail one fall weekend every year, the Inn at Perry Cabin. The photo on the side table was taken during last year's trip in September at a canoe regatta. Every time I walk into the bathroom (and on to the new master closet) my blood pressure falls and I breathe a breath of relaxing air.
As I explained to Brad and Connor, "Now, we're not going to actually USE this bathroom . . . it's only to look at. Don't touch a thing!" Upon completing the bathroom / master closet, I threw away the scale (I feel beautiful enough every time I step foot in there, who needs a number to change all that) and hired a cleaning service to help keep the house in its new pristine state. |
