OCTOBER 2008

  "'a' and senior portraits"

OCTOBER 25, 2008 - I'll be doing senior portraits beginning in April for 2010 graduates.  I love working with this age and really look forward to offering more than what was available when I had my senior portraits done almost 20 years ago (gasp!).  (Just think carpet board, stiff pose, and overblown soft focus filter on a smiley kid with braces -- that was me!)  "A" is my first Student Partner posting.  She'll be helping me reach out to seniors at Groves High School in Birmingham.  She's a natural beauty and did a great job enduring the 50 degree day here in Michigan.  We had lots of fun warming up over hot chocolate at Starbucks afterward.  Keep a lookout for more Senior Student Partners to pop up soon.

  "classic beauty"

OCTOBER 23, 2008 - I have very little to say about this young woman, other than the fact that she is STUNNING and just exudes grace and poise. She was such a sweetheart and I loved getting to know her and her mom a few weekends ago.  Just look at her!  When she saw her gallery, she asked her mom if she looks this way all the time.  Yes!  You're THAT gorgeous.   Thanks "K" and "J".

"this is why I love (LOVE!) my job!"

OCTOBER 19, 2008 - Washington, D.C. Urban Kids folks stay tuned!  Galleries will be launched in a few hours (YAY).  I'm really excited to show you all your gorgeous kids. All I can say about this young beauty below is OH MY GOD!  I almost fell over when I saw her at the meeting spot (as I walked up and saw her and her sister, I thought, "PLEASE let these girls be here for me").  Wait to see her equally gorgeous sister on the blog soon . . . and a big, big thanks to mom, "E," without whose work and effort the Urban Kids D.C. would have not have been sold out and a massive hit.  You're awesome!  (By the way, anyone interested in becoming a City Coordinator for future Urban Kids sessions should be in touch.)  We had great weather.  Great kids.  Great photos.  Did I mention how much I LOVE my job?

  "lots of laughs with 'l'"

OCTOBER 19, 2008 - This is "A's" sister (see "A" below), little "L."  What a cutie she is!  This little one has so much expression and bounce in her, I could hardly keep up.  Mom will get to see some of the sillier expressions (and there are many!) but I love the more dramatic side of "L."   She was a ton of fun to photograph.  What a pleasure it was to work with both of the "N" girls.  Thanks, ladies :)

"a" and a quick stop in maryland

OCTOBER 18, 2008 - As part of the Urban Kids tour, I had a private session in Maryland about an hour outside of Washington, D.C.  If you can conjure up the image of a perfect farm: rolling hills, a clearwater creek, a gazebo, beautiful barn, and a stately house with wraparound porch atop a hill with a spectacular view, this is it.  If you can imagine two beautiful girls who might live in such a storybook fantasy, "A" and her sister (blog shots forthcoming) are those girls.  Mom and dad were out of town, so I never actually got to meet them (hopefully next time!), but we had a great time with the girls and aunt "A."  Thanks guys :)

And oh yeah . . . don't worry, I'm working feverishly on everyone else's Urban Kids shots too. Not much longer!

  urban kids!  what fun :)

OCTOBER 16, 2008 - WOW!  What a whirlwind that was.  I'm just recovering and working through the first of the Urban Kids: East Coast shoots.  I CAN'T WAIT to show them to you.  We were totally sold out in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh (with a few private sessions to boot) and I enjoyed meeting and working with each and every one of you.  THANK YOU!  I'm thinking of 2009 dates and cities and will be asking for your feedback soon.

I've received a lot of calls lately for family / holiday shots.  I'm officially BOOKED SOLID for the rest of 2008 and I will be out of the country November 21 - December 14.  If you're interested in a shoot for 2009, please contact me now to reserve at 2008 rates.

I'll be posting lots of Urban Kids images . . . for now, take a look at this blue-eyed beauty I photographed recently.  Back in a flash!

  "little angel"

OCTOBER 8, 2008 - This is why I love newborn and baby photography . . . just look at this precious little one all nestled up.  I had the privilege of working with this little one last week.  She is a particular joy not only for the fact that mom has expressed interest in working with me for a few years now (and the pleasure was truly all mine!), but because she arrives after much effort on mom's part to bring her here.  What a treasure she is and how worthwhile it all is.  I'm just so thrilled that she's here, she's healthy, and absolutely beautiful.  Check back in a few months -- she's part of the Oh Baby! Baby Plan, so you'll be seeing her again soon.

  "'c' and the cute cap"

OCTOBER 7, 2008 - It's sweater weather and I love little "C" in her cute, colorful cap.  These shots were taken in Ann Arbor recently and are part of the new installation at Mama Gaia's in downtown Howell.  Check it out :)

  "picture perfect partners"

OCTOBER 2, 2008 - I'm OVER THE MOON with excitement about my new partnership with elite Northville baby boutique, The Moon & Me.  If you've never been to this sweet little shop on Main Street (116 E. Main Street, Northville, 48167), I really encourage you  to stop by between now and the holidays.  Rebecca has the MOST GORGEOUS baby and toddler wear and she will doll your little one up to the nines this holiday season (and I would love nothing more than to capture your little one in her little clothes).  We're announcing our partnership with an upcoming direct mail campaign and a special offer -- 20% off of one item in her store and 25 free holiday greetings with the purchase of any collection between now and december 31.  Be sure to peek in and let her know you heard about her on my blog.

Check out some of the outtakes below from our recent advertising campaign shoot (and check out these dolls in Rebecca's clothes):
