HAPPY HOLIDAYS
November 19, 2008

The tree is up, the lights are on the house, the stockings are hung, and the cards are in the mail.  Since we're leaving for an extended vacation this year (as a reminder, I will be out of town November 21 - January 1 and will not have access to phone or e-mail during this time), Christmas started early at the Lippowiths household.  We're so blessed to have had such a wonderful year.  Thank you to those of you who were a part of it.  I leave you with images of with a recent session of my most favorite client.  We bought Connor a new coat and hat from Janie & Jack (my personal vice) and I just had to shoot it for the holiday card.  Also, a huge thanks to photographer and new Urban Kids partner, Rebecca Murray Walker, for going above and beyond with a cranky toddler to capture a beautiful family shot. Much more news about Rebecca in 2009.  I may upload a shot or two while sipping pina coladas on the Caribbean beach, but if not, happy holidays and we'll see you in the New Year!  HAPPY HOLIDAYS :)

SMOKY BLUES
November 13, 2008

Just finished up my second to last session of the year and feeling excited about our family vacation next week.  I need it!  As an announcement and reminder, all client orders must be finalized (approved and paid in full) by SUNDAY for holiday delivery.  All orders placed after Sunday will be delivered after January 1.  If you'd like to place an order, please be in touch as soon as possible.

Now, on to this beauty . . . I have a sneakin' suspicion she's been waiting very patiently for some shots but is about to burst through the seems.  Well, "T" I hope it was worth the wait.  You did an awesome job and we had a lot of fun.  Check out those smokey eyes.  Just beautiful.  Hang tight, I'll be in touch very soon with your gallery :)

BIRTHDAY BOY
November 10, 2008

Thanks very much to the "Z" family for having me work with gorgeous little "R" yesterday on his first birthday (and on the day of the first official snowfall here in Michigan).  "R" is a supercutie and always in such high spirits.  I really had fun.  You may remember him from the October direct mail piece or his appearance as "Spatula Man" on the September blog.

I'm totally swamped and not keeping up with the blog as promised.  It's busy season and I'm working through the last couple shoots for the year before heading down to the Caribbean next week (woohoo!).  As a reminder, I will be out of the country November 21 - January 1.  I will not be answering e-mails or calls during this time.  All orders must be finalized (approved and paid in full) by this Sunday, November 16 for holiday delivery.

BRAND NEW DAY
November 8, 2008

As I sit here and listen to President Elect Barack Obama's acceptance speech one more time, I can't help but feel thankful for all that I have and all that I can become.  For my clients and those of you who look in on the blog, I just want to thank you for making my life and my work possible.  I'm incredibly blessed to have the support and abilities to do what I love to do and to make a living at this.  What a dream come true.  As I went for a quiet morning run, I thought about the work I do and how I hope it touches people in a lasting way.  I believe that each of us can make a difference.  I hope what I do matters.  I don't consider myself overly political (though I have always voted), but I feel inspired for the first time in a long time to ask what more can I do to make a difference.  The opportunities are boundless.  It's entirely up to me.  Change is up to each and every one of us.  Today is a brand new day.

I leave you with the images of a beauty I recently photographed. You saw her sister on the October blog.  Look at those locks!  Look at those eyes!  Such a beauty :)

"C" AND THE BLUSTERY DAY
November 2, 2008

I'm not trying to become one of those photographers who gets very busy and neglects the blog . . . really, I'm not!  Blogging is one of my favorite things and is kind of the icing on the cake after working through each session.  This week was a bit unusual in that my Mac was at the Apple store in disrepair Monday - Friday and I sat dead in the water (grrr!).  It was very frustrating to say the least.  So, I haven't wanted to let the blog lapse, I just had no choice.  That said, I now have a HUGE backlog of blog images to post this week (yay) so check back often.  Let's start with this FABULOUS young woman, "C."  She and I worked together last Sunday in downtown Birmingham on a cold and blustery day.  We had a nice time together. I will say hands down that she is one of the most mature tweens I have ever met.  I left our session feeling inspired by her confidence and can-do attitude.  She taught me a little thing about not giving up on your dreams that I won't soon forget.  Thanks "C." Can't wait to see you soon :)
