It was a beautiful foggy morning and I've been itching to get out and shoot with Connor (something about the last pile of snow melting away and the days getting longer) so we went into the field near the pond behind the house this morning. Aside of mommy continually yelling "NO! Don't sit down!" for fear of trashing his new coat, pants, and WHITE sweater (what am I thinking?) in the soggy, muddy ground, we had a great time. I rewarded Connor with a trip to his favorite place to eat and play, "Old McDonald" as he calls it. If we were better parents, we might correct him, but it's just too darn cute. Don't you love the little things come up with at this age?
I have a CONFESSION to make: I didn't realize until after the shoot that I had left my white balance on a Kelvin setting from the last shoot I did. These shots have a pretty different look from my usual work, but I have to admit I quite like the pale softness of these shots. Kinda goes with the quiet morning theme. Love my little guy sporting 100% Janie & Jack (my vice) from head to toe. |

I've been invited to shoot a commercial / editorial project for a new hip (and way cool!) digital children's magazine making its debut in May. The look and feel of this publication matches my creative vision and I'm VERY excited to be a part of it all. I was asked to produce three shoots (both in studio and on location) featuring high-end clothing lines including Baby Gap, Burberry Kids, and Ralph Lauren Kids.
The editor has asked me to help round up a few fresh faces. Specifically: |
| |
- 5 babies who can sit self-supported WITHOUT help but who are not yet running (standing, toddling, walking is OK) and can who separate from parents well
- 10 children in size 5 or 6 (age is not as important as size but this would be around 4-7 years old)
- boys and girls of all ethnicities welcome
- modeling experience a strong plus but not required
- shoot date / location TBA between March 20 - April 2 in the metro Detroit area
- compensation in the form of tear sheets from magazine
- please understand that the editor (not Urban Kids) will make final model selections
- children may be selected as primary or alternate participants
- interested persons should MAIL one very recent color head shot or comp card along with sizing (height, weight, hair color, eye color, dress size, shirt size, pant size, and shoe size) to:
Urban Kids Photography, LLC
251 E. Merrill Street #207
Birmingham, MI 48009
Deadline is Thursday, March 17. Please mail submission even if you are a client of Urban Kids (submissions will be forwarded on to the magazine editor). No e-mails or phone calls please.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: It's been a while since we scheduled a D.C. / Maryland weekend but more than a few of you have asked us to return this year. We're planning to do a few FULL sessions (possibly some mini sessions if there's enough interest) the weekend of May 28-29 (yes, that's Memorial Day weekend) OR July 16-17, depending on which date garners more interest. It will be great seeing many of you again and hopefully some new faces as well. (Please note that travel sessions require a $1,000 product purchase.) Please call us at (248) 320-1943 for more information and to book your session time.
SAN FRANCISCO: We'll be working on a project in the San Francisco area the weekend of June 3-5 and will be available for a couple private sessions leading up to or immediately following the weekend. (Please note that travel sessions require a $1,000 product purchase.) Please call us at (248) 320-1943 for more information and to book your session time.
CHICAGO: We've also had a strong interest to return to Chicago, so we're putting a possible weekend on the calendar: August 13-14. (Please note that travel sessions require a $1,000 product purchase.) Please call us at (248) 320-1943 for more information and to book your session time. |

| All photographer assistants would be outdone by this GORGEOUS little guy below. He was my personal "helper" going so far as to walk over on set and position sister's legs and hands when I was trying to communicate to her from afar. A budding photographer himself, perhaps, that is, when he's not busy modeling for the latest Gap ad :) Really enjoyed working with the "S" family . . . lots of laughs and two beautiful children to brighten up a dreary Saturday Michigan morning. |

| Nothing like kicking off the studio opening with a TRIPLET NEWBORN PHOTO SHOOT! I can only say we had a triple dose of love in the house with these three dolls. I send a huge thanks and ((((HUG))) to my assistant team, A and K, without whom we could not have had such an amazing session. Also, I hand it to mom and dad for such patience and "go with the flow" through the long session in a not-yet-fully-furnished studio. Can't wait to work with you guys again soon. Check back in six and twelve months to watch these cuties grow as part of the baby plan. |
