China Doll
July 27, 2010

I absolutley LOVE working with "G" and her brother "D" (not shown -- he got all the glory last year).  Two gorgeous kids!  We worked together a few weeks ago in Birmingham on a beautiful but warm morning.  What more can I say except G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!  Thanks "Y" family!  Hope to see you again ;)

A few more of my little guy "helping" in the garden.  Lots of emotion in these shots.

Triple "A"
July 20, 2010

The "A" family has some of the cutest, most energetic (that's a euphamism for "run me ragged" but I mean it in the nicest way) kiddos.  I just adore this trio!  I photographed them about a year ago and while some things change (they're all a bit older), some things stay the same (still so much fun).  We hung out recently on a HOT HOT day here in Michigan.  We took refuge under the shade of the church steps.

And just a few additional shots of my little guy.  We're so enjoying our summer!  We had a walk in the woods followed a sweet, strawberry summery treat.

Sweet "T"
July 14, 2010

Nothing as fun in the hot summertime than a bit of Sweet "T."  This little cutie was as sweet as they come.  Love those smiley brown eyes and all that energy.  She had mom and dad and I running circles around her in Birminham a few weeks ago.  I really enjoyed working with this family and look foward to seeing  them again for the second part of their Duos Session plan.  Thanks for everything, J, J, and T!  You guys are the best!

The "Unbirthday" Party
July 13, 2010

I was at a fabulous party yesterday.  It was an "unbirthday" party -- a chance for the kids to gather and celebrate for no good reason at all.  We had a blast!  Of course, being surrounded by beautiful children and good light, I couldn't resist.  The images below are the kind of work I'd like to move toward -- more editorial in style, mixing in still objects and detail shots for a more commercial look.  In the meantime, enjoy.

Happy Fourth of July
July 5, 2010

I hope you has as nice a holiday weekend as I did!  I did so little work I almost forgot where I left off (this is a good thing!).  Instead, I spent time with my family going to the beach, hanging out at my aunt's lodge as part of our annual family reunion, and just putzing around the house.

I've been working on the new blog for a while.   Actually, I've had the urge to reinvent myself for some time (and not just in my work).   I've become mildly obsessed with the classic look of the forties and fifties.  Longing for a simple sophisticated elegance.

Along these same lines, I'll also be returning the name of my business to Karen Lippowiths Photography.   This is in part for stylistic reasons as well as business reasons.  Trying to simplify it all.  What do you think?   Same crisp and colorful photography but with a softer approach.

Here are a bunch of recent images with a perfect red, white, and blue color scheme.  We photographed little "G" right around her first birthday to round out the baby plan.  Below her are a few recent shots of my son, Connor.  We broke out the sidewalk chalk then did a little work around the house last week.  Love my cutie!

Check back soon.  Lots more to post!
