  little "j"

April 25, 2008 - Here is the first round of images from last weekend's shoot for Titzy's Maternity & Nursing in Royal Oak.  We had a beautiful day for an outdoor location shoot in Southeast Michigan-- and many of  these were even shot in full sun.  I love little "J's" bright outfit -- you've got to check out the cool merchandise at this store!  More to come . . .

  royal oak

April 20, 2008 - It's amazing how much doesn't get done (and yet, how much free time I have without all of my gadgets) when a computer breaks down. Yes, I went through all of the phases of loss . . . denial, anger, sadness, acceptance, then retail therapy. After a long week and a half without my computer, I'm finally back up and slowly running again with a whole new system (that actually works!).

I spent time in Royal Oak yesterday and will be spending the day there again today. Yesterday was "Little J" and the family. Today, a product shoot for Titzy's Maternity & Nursing (yes . . . Titzy's!). Stay tuned for updates on the images from this shoot and be sure to visit Titzy's in Royal Oak.

  audrey woulard workshop update

April 7, 2008 - I posted in my March 2008 blog about the fabulous time I had at the Audrey Woulard workshop in Chicago last month.  The best part was the amazing people I met and the genuine friendships I've formed (hey Megan Peck, did you get the lonnng 2:00 a.m. e-mail I sent you last night?  Congrats again on that beautiful award-winning shot).

I've created a Friends & Favorites link with everyone's contact information.  If you're outside of Michigan, these are the folks to call.  Check out our group shot below.

Also, with great thanks to Mike Wise for all his talent and kindness, here's a shot of me in action at the workshop.

  simplicity!

April 6, 2008 - I can't begin to say how  refreshing it is to simplify my blog.  I was spending so much time formatting and coding HTML to update and post the most simple entry.  Ahhhh . . . .finally, I'm free and taking a truly KISS approach to blogging and posting images, which means more of both (and more time taking images).  I'm also making the text larger for those of you who are bleary-eyed and reading in the middle of the night, which is when I usually write this (get some sleep).

I'm still updating and linking archived pages and information, so stay tuned and check back soon if you're looking for older pages or other information.  :)

  mr. "m"

April 6, 2008 - What an amazing (and I mean amazing) day we had here in Southeast Michigan.  The weather was perfect and the natural light to die for -- a perfect day for an outdoor llocation photo shoot.  I had a busy day full of shoots and now lots of images to process, but I thought I'd at least post from this morning's shoot with "Mr. M."  You wouldn't know it from the shots below, but I basically had to bribe this little young man with a "surprise" to get his attention.  (The surprise was my three-foot reflector that "springs" out of its case when you open it.  I carried it with me around the yard the whole time we were shooting, asking "Mr. M" what it could be? what could it be?.  At first he said a mouse.  Then a lion.  Then, after opening it, "Mr. M" decided it was a huge wobbly frisbee and tossed it as hard as he could.)

  the alley

April 6, 2008 - Besides the fact that this is located just behind the Dairy Queen, this alley has become my favorite place in town to shoot in downtown Howell, MI.  The lighting is always spectacular and it's full of color and charm.  You'll notice several shoots that have taken place here.  We went out for banana splits and pecan mudslides on a picture perfect evening last night.  I snapped a few of my favorite little model.

  celebrate family!

April 3, 2008 -Take time to celebrate family and help a very special family in need.

Richard Hedglen (not pictured here), 37, has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. A fund and charitable event has been organized to help his wife, Clara, and two young sons, who face difficult times ahead. Richard is a devoted husband, father, Marine Corps Veteran, former Deputy Sheriff, and currently a U.S. Border Patrol Agent.

Karen will donate a photo shoot as an auction item for the Richard Hedglen Fundraiser event on April 11, 2008.
